Tensegrity, a short term used for tensional integrity, is a structural principle based on the use of isolated components in compression inside a net of continuous tension, in such a way that the elements do not touch each other and the pre-stressed tensioned members (usually cables) delineate the system spatially. Found it confusing? Yes, this model will demonstrate it. Play with a tensegrity structure, and you will understand how it works.
The conventional view of the body alignment as a stack of blocks made from skeletons. In reality, the body alignment depends on the balance of the various soft tissues (fascia, tendons, ligaments) that hold the bones, and muscles and organs together. The tensegrity structure illustrates how our structure can be sustained by tension of the connective tissue. This model can be used to demonstrate the principle of pelvis balancing to yourself and your client.
The Tensegri-teach Pelvis model is made up of 9 specially designed dowels, which can be assembled following a written instruction or via a video clip. It was designed and produced by a structural integrator Eli Thompson from USA.
